Gardens at Pak Hok Senior Residence
Why Pak Hok

A Different Kind of Senior Residence

Most senior living options in Hong Kong are large, institutional and designed around efficiency. Pak Hok is small by intention — and that changes almost everything about the experience of living here.

What You Can Expect at Pak Hok

Six things that define daily life here — none of them trivial, and all of them consistent.

A Small, Close Community

Pak Hok keeps its numbers deliberately modest. Staff and residents know each other by name. That is not a marketing claim — it is a structural decision.

Home-Cooked Cantonese Meals

Breakfast, lunch and dinner prepared in our own kitchen. Not catering. Not reheated. Proper food, written around the season and the people eating it.

Genuine Outdoor Space

Landscaped gardens and shaded courtyards that residents can use throughout the day — not just a narrow balcony or a rooftop terrace shared with building infrastructure.

Private, Comfortable Rooms

Each room is furnished to a clean and comfortable standard, and residents make it their own. Housekeeping is daily. Linen is changed regularly.

Attentive, Unhurried Staff

Our team is present without being intrusive. Errands, preferences, small requests — these things are handled as a matter of course, not as exceptions to a rulebook.

Kowloon Tong Location

A calm, green neighbourhood that remains well-connected. Families visiting from across Hong Kong find the journey manageable. Residents who go out independently find familiar city life close by.

Experience & Approach

Staff Who Know What They Are Doing

The people who work at Pak Hok have been chosen carefully and remain in their roles long enough to truly know the residents. Staff turnover in this industry is often high. At Pak Hok, continuity is treated as a priority because it directly affects the quality of daily life for everyone here.

  • Long-tenured household and dining team members
  • Staff trained in older-adult communication and sensitivity
  • Regular internal reviews of resident comfort and wellbeing

"A residence works well when the staff know each resident personally — not just their room number and dietary notes, but their habits, their mood on a given morning, and the name of their daughter who visits on Saturdays."

— Mrs Mabel Lam, Residence Director

How We Handle Enquiries

Families often contact us at a point of some urgency — a parent living alone and managing less well, a sibling who has noticed a change. We treat those conversations with the patience and honesty they deserve. No pressure, no rush, no sales script.

A visit can be arranged by phone or email. We will show you around, answer questions plainly and give you time to think. A decision of this kind should never feel pushed.

Service Quality

Care That Arrives Before You Ask for It

Good service in a residence like this is mostly invisible. It means the dining hall is warm before the morning rush, linen is changed on the expected day, and a resident's errand is done without being reminded twice. When service is working well, nothing feels effortful.

  • Welcome host for every new resident on arrival day
  • Errand and personal assistance as part of full residence package
  • Open family contact during office hours, seven days a week

What Sets Us Apart

Things You Will Not Find Everywhere

Afternoon Tea as a Daily Gathering

The afternoon dim sum sitting is not simply a snack break. It is a moment when residents tend to gather in the dining hall, catch up with each other and settle into the quieter part of the day. That kind of unhurried sociability is hard to schedule — at Pak Hok it simply happens, reliably, every day.

Light Gardening as an Option, Not an Obligation

Residents who enjoy tending plants are welcome to contribute to the courtyard gardens in whatever way suits their energy and inclination. It is an option offered with care, not a structured programme with attendance tracked. Some residents water a few pots each morning. Others simply sit nearby and enjoy the company.

Gentle Guided Morning Walks

Ting-Wai leads an easy morning walk through the courtyard most days. There are no fitness targets and no keeping up. It is simply a way to start the morning outdoors, in good company, at a pace that suits each person joining on the day.

A Named Welcome Host for Every New Resident

Moving into a new home, at any age, takes adjustment. New residents at Pak Hok are introduced to a named host on their first day — one person whose job, for that initial settling-in period, is to make sure everything feels manageable and nothing is left unexplained.
