In Their Own Words
Mrs Lau Ching-Yee
Daughter of a resident · Kowloon Bay
"My mother has been here since last May. The thing I noticed first was how the staff remembered her name on her second visit before she even moved in — that told me something. She was nervous about the change, but within two weeks she had a favourite corner at the tea house and had started joining the morning walks."

Mr Ho Wai-Man
Resident · Kowloon Tong
"I take the dining arrangement only for now, not the full room. The food is genuinely good — I have eaten at the dim sum sitting nearly every afternoon since I started. The kitchen knows I prefer congee in the morning and it is there without asking. Occasionally the dining room is a little warm in summer, but the staff are quick to open windows when asked."

Ms Chan Kwok-Ling
Son's family · Sha Tin
"After my father-in-law passed, my mother-in-law was very isolated in her flat. Coming to Pak Hok changed that. She calls us less to say she is bored and more to tell us what was served at lunch. She has made friends with two other residents who also enjoy watching the birds in the courtyard. That was not something we could have arranged ourselves."

Mr Wong Tsun-Kit
Resident · Kowloon Tong
"I am in my late seventies and was managing on my own in a flat in Mong Kok. I took the full residence package because I wanted to feel properly looked after without moving in with my children and disrupting their household. The room is very comfortable. I water the herbs in the courtyard most mornings. It is a good life here."

Ms Tang Yuk-Fong
Niece of a resident · Tuen Mun
"My aunt is quite independent and was reluctant to try any kind of residence. What convinced her was visiting for lunch — she liked the food and she liked that the other residents seemed relaxed, not like they were in an institution. She has the dining and garden option only and seems content. I would recommend visiting in person to get a proper sense of the place."

Ms Fung Lai-Kwan
Daughter of a resident · Ho Man Tin
"The pricing is fair and nothing has ever appeared on the monthly bill that was not explained in advance. When I call with a question about my mother, whoever answers can usually tell me something specific about how her week has gone — not just a general 'she is fine'. That kind of communication is exactly what you hope for when a parent is not living with you."

A Few Journeys, Told Plainly
The Situation
Mr Yip, 76, had been living alone in Kowloon City since his wife passed. His daughter, working in Tsuen Wan, worried about his meals. He was eating irregularly and rarely going out.
What Changed
Mr Yip started with the dining arrangement in March. After six weeks he added the garden access. By May he was attending the morning walks regularly and had struck up a friendship with two other residents who shared an interest in Cantonese opera.
After 3 Months
"He calls me to tell me about things that happened at Pak Hok rather than because he is at a loose end. That is all I wanted." — His daughter, May 2025
The Situation
Mrs Kwong, 81, had moved between her two children's homes in the two years following her husband's passing. Though well cared for, she felt she lacked her own routines and did not want to be a complication in either household.
What Changed
Mrs Kwong took the Full Comfort Residence Package in April. She brought her own photographs, her small reading lamp and a blanket she has had for decades. The room became hers within the first week. She particularly likes the afternoon tea sitting.
After 2 Months
"She told me she finally has a home again. She said it without sadness — just as a fact." — Her son, June 2025
